What’s Possible

1. Copying a Website ("Fork by URL")

   • You can use tools like HTTrack, wget, or online "site scrapers" to copy (download) the static HTML, CSS, JS, and image files from a site.

2. Importing into WordPress (CMS Result)

   • There are plugins (like HTML Import 2) which can help import static HTML pages into WordPress.
   • You can manually create a custom WordPress theme based on the downloaded site.
   • The process is easier for simple, static sites and much harder for complex ones or dynamic applications.

3. Importing into Shopify

   • Shopify is not a general-purpose website importer. There’s no one-click option to import a random website.
   • You can manually re-create the design as a Shopify theme (needs developer skills).
   • Product data (from e-commerce sites) can sometimes be imported via CSV, but layout, navigation, and blog content must be migrated manually.

What’s NOT (Easily) Possible

• Automated "fork by URL" with instant import and full editability in WordPress/Shopify (including complex functionality, logins, shopping carts, etc.) is not supported by any mainstream tool.
• Dynamic elements, databases, or proprietary backend functionality can’t be copied this way.

• Only copy websites you own, have permission for, or that are open source/public domain.

Summary:
You can duplicate (fork) static sites and partially import them into WordPress or manually recreate them in Shopify, but there is no one-click, fully automated way to do this for all websites. For many real-world sites, significant manual work is still required.
