I had the same issue. Make sure your phone's clock is set to automatic time. Also, check if you're using a VPN—some services block logins from VPN IP addresses.

This is not related to 2FA. Email verification and 2FA are separate.

If you can’t verify your email address on GitHub, try the following:

Check your Spam / Promotions folder.

Go to Settings → Emails and click Resend verification email.

Make sure the email address is correct and active.

Turn off VPN and try again (some networks block GitHub emails).

Ensure your system date & time are set automatically.

Try adding and verifying a different email address (Gmail/Outlook recommended).

Email verification is required before enabling 2FA.

If you’re unable to verify your email address or complete 2FA verification, it is usually caused by one of the following reasons.

Common Email Verification Issues

1. Verification email not received
   Check your Spam, Promotions, and Updates folders. GitHub emails are often filtered.
2. Incorrect email address
   Make sure the email in GitHub → Settings → Emails is spelled correctly.
3. Email already used on another GitHub account
   GitHub does not allow the same email to be verified on multiple accounts. Remove it from the other account first.
4. Mail server blocking GitHub
   College or corporate mail servers sometimes block GitHub emails. Try using Gmail or Outlook instead.
5. Expired verification link
   Old verification links stop working. Click “Resend verification email” in Settings.

Fix for Email Verification

• Go to GitHub → Settings → Emails
• Click Resend verification email
• Or add a new email (preferably Gmail) and verify it

Common 2FA Verification Issues

2FA problems usually happen when:
• The authenticator app time is not synced
• Wrong codes are entered
• Recovery codes were not saved
• The phone used for 2FA is lost or reset

Fix for 2FA

1. Make sure your phone’s Date & Time is set to Automatic
2. Try using your GitHub recovery codes
3. If you don’t have them, go to:
   https://github.com/contact → Account → 2FA → Account Recovery and submit a recovery request.
