Setting working directory for monorepo issue (fatal: not a git repository)

Hello,

I have a monorepo and I tried setting my workspaceFolder and workspaceMount like below:

"workspaceMount": "source=${localWorkspaceFolder}/app,target=/workspace,type=bind",
"workspaceFolder": "/workspace"

Where /app is my react frontend app.

However, it says fatal not a git repository when I do git status or anything, is this intended behavior or did I configure this incorrectly? Would be nice to use a codespace for just that part of our repo.
